Home Sweet Home

Nick, Ridg and I moved in on June 17th.
Words really cannot express how happy we are to be in our home.
Although there are a few things to be done still... everyone keeps telling me "Welcome to being a Home Owner"... we are comfortable.
Actually, we are some comfortable and WARM! Nick built an incredibly energy efficient home. No more wood burning stoves or electric base board heat. In floor heating and passive solar are all we need (at this point).
Since we have been in the home we have had several over night guests and look forward to having more.

We will post more final photos soon. In the meantime, please notice that our address has changed to 1040 Charles Street, Ridgway, CO 81432

Updates coming soon

Hi Friends and Family,
Sorry it has been so long since our last post.
I would like to say that we have been on a month long vacation but that is not the case.
Nick and I have been working very hard to get the house ready for our final inspections next week. YES, you read correctly, we are applying for our Certification of Occupancy. We are hoping to get it before the 15th, so we can MOVE IN!
I will be sending some pics soon.
Thank you all for your support and love through this process.
Please join us in our house warming gathering on June 24th from 5-9 pm.
The address is 1040 Charles Street Ridgway CO!
Love Nick and Johanna

Spring is Here!

HELLO FRIENDS AND FAMILY,

Hope you are all doing well and enjoying the SPRING WEATHER!

Here is the latest on the Wasser Homestead and your "vacation getaway" in the San Juan mountains. Nick has (of course) been very busy trying to get things moving... so we can get in the house (hopefully) by June 1!

Nick started to put the Bamboo wood floors in upstairs in preparation for the kitchen cabinets and appliances.
Concrete floors have been stained in the master bathroom and the entire lower floor. The master bathroom certainly took us a little while to "master", but with Nick's determination (and patience), my insistence, and  a little help from some friends (especially Chris Bolane), we are "satisfied". Take a peek.

Bean, I think you would be proud of Nick's work on this.
We are looking forward to you coming home and seeing it for yourself.

 Here come the appliances!
Nick used the a giant fork lift to move the appliance into the house (from the deck).

Nick worked his a*s off to get the cabinets in "just so". We are waiting on a few parts but generally speaking they are all in. Nick has been working with our friends Travis and Ben in the fabrication of the granite counter tops... which may be installed      next week.

Water heater is in ... and working like a "charm".
 Electrical box is complete.
Lots of light in the garage for Nick to work on projects around the clock.
View looking from the elementary school parking lot (facing Southeast).
The work is getting to Nick a little bit...
he has been sporting a new hair style as a result.
Garage door has been installed. Along with our exterior lighting.
Probably the most amazing addition to the house is the custom stair railing that our friend, Jeff, has made for us. It is absolutely gorgeous and adds an artistic feel & energy to the house.
THANK YOU Jeff for your vision and craftsmanship.

Nick built the deck railing in a day (with a little help from our friend Rick).
Our friend, Lance, did an outstanding job on the master bathroom shower pan!
Tiling is in Nick's future.
Master bathroom vanity (close up above, distant shot below).

Guest bathroom vanity is installed (above),
as well as the laundry room sink cabinet (below).

Counter top fabrication work has been going on all this week. Next week we hope to get the counter tops installed as well as the sinks & faucets.

Well... that is what has been going on with the house. I, in the meantime, have been working day and night to help us afford our new home. Nick and I are certainly "ready" to balance our lives with a lot more play and a little less work.  We are planning to see you this coming year sometime (in Ridgway).

Love the Wassers
